Is 20 -year -old suitable for wearing gold jewelry? Will it be very earthy?

My mother recently changed her ring to a slightly cheerful gold ring and gave it to me. It was a bit big, but it was pretty good to wear on the index finger. I don't know if it would be very earthy.
